2016 Annual Black List Feature Screenwriters Lab

The Black List will invite six to eight promising non-professional writers identified by the Black List script evaluation service to a weeklong, intensive writers workshop in Los Angeles, CA from October 16-22, 2016.

2016 Women In Film/The Black List Episodic Lab

Women In Film, LA (WIF) and The Black List are excited to announce that they have joined forces to create a television lab for female writers and the opt-in is now open.  The inaugural Women In Film/The Black List Episodic Lab is scheduled to begin in August 2016 in Los Angeles, CA.

Cassian Elwes Independent Screenwriting Fellowship

The Cassian Elwes Independent Screenwriting Fellowship is an annual program designed to encourage and identify new talent in the field of independent cinema by awarding one screenwriter each year with an all-expenses paid trip to the Sundance Film Festival and an opportunity to meet with Producer Cassian Elwes (Lee Daniels' The Butler, Ain't Them Bodies Saints). Each year, The Black List will choose ten screenplays imbued with an independent spirit by unrepresented screenwriters, which will be sent on to Mr. Elwes for his consideration. The short list will be determined in early December and the Fellowship recipient will be selected by Mr. Elwes by calendar year's end.

Fox Broadcasting Company Television Drama Script Program Submission Call

Fox Broadcasting Company in conjunction with The Black List has created a program to find television writers (i) for a possible blind script deal or (ii) to be considered for a writing staff position on an existing FOX drama pilot and/or series.

Hasty Pudding Institute Screenwriting Fellowship

The Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770’s philanthropic mission is to promote freedom of expression in all aspects of the performing arts, to encourage satire, comedy and the cultivation of young talent, not just at Harvard but around the world. The Institute is comprised of The Hasty Pudding Club (the oldest social club in the United States), The Hasty Pudding Theatricals (the third oldest theater group in the world, after the Comédie Française and the Oberammergau Passion Players) and the Harvard Krokodiloes (the foremost collegiate a cappella group in the United States). Over the last two centuries, it has grown into a premiere performing arts organization, a patron of the arts and comedy, and an advocate for satire and discourse as tools for change worldwide.

NFL Submission Call

In order to find writers who might not otherwise get the chance to pen the next big blockbuster with the country's biggest sports brand, the National Football League and The Company are pleased to team up with the Black List to find two screenwriters for a blind script deal.

Studiocanal Blind Script Deal

In an effort to identify undiscovered European screenwriters, Studiocanal and The Picture Company are pleased to partner with the Black List in this Submission Period to find a European screenwriter (writing in English) for a two-step WGA minimum blind script deal. The primary focus of this program is to provide access and opportunities for aspiring European writers.

Symbolic Exchange Smart Scares Submission Call

The Black List is pleased to announce a partnership with Symbolic Exchange to identify an emerging screenwriter for a Writers Guild low budget agreement minimum blind writing deal with Symbolic Exchange to write an original horror film whose budget would fall within the WGA’s low budget guidelines.

The Google Computer Science Education in Media Fellowship Call for Submissions

The Black List is pleased to partner with Google’s Computer Science Education in Media program to offer financial grants in support of the development of three scripts with a focus on changing the image in popular culture of computer science and computer scientists.

The Writers Lab 2016 Presented by IRIS & New York Women in Film and Television

The Black List has partnered with IRIS & New York Women in Film and Television to identify ten female writers over the age of 40 who will receive the Black List's recommendation and a fee waiver in the NYWIFT process.

Turner Script Initiative Program Submission Call

Partnership with TNT/TBS that offers two writers blind pilot developments, and provides eight other writers with the opportunity to have their work circulated with prominent showrunners for staffing consideration.
